Drum Repair

Our reheading and repair services are customized to your exact needs.  We use only the finest materials and take great pride in our workmanship.

Since every reheading or repair project is unique, we ask that you contact us.  Through a free consultation we will determine what you need done and how much that work should cost.  Once we receive your drum, if we determine that there is more to be done than originally thought, we will contact you to discuss the situation before we continue work on your drum.

Services we offer:

• Simple reheading.  We replace your old and broken goat skin head with a new one.  All rings and rope are re-used.
• Replace rope on both the body of the drum and the rings.   If your rope is stiff and brittle this can give new life to your drum.
• Repair of wooden shell.  Cracks, nicks, and gouges can all be repaired.
• Reshaping of the rim.  If your rim is uneven, or jagged, we can properly shape it for you.  Also, a poorly shaped rim can negatively effect the sound of your drum.  Improve your drum's sound, and have the rim reshaped.
• Drum shortening.  Is your drum too tall for you?  We can shorten your drum by removing wood from the base of the drum.  We will do our best to make sure that any carvings on the base are not affected.

The materials we use:

• Genuine West African goat skins
• Rings are made in the US of 1/4" cold rolled stee.
• All rope is 4.5mm double braided polyester cord with a strong low-stretch core.

All drums come with black cord, unless otherwise specified. Other colors are available at extra cost, and might delay the finish date of your drum since we don't stock all colors.

The base price for our reheading service is $85.  That includes a new goat skin head and ensuring that the bearing edge of your drum is properly shaped and smooth.  Other services are negotiated at time of order.

Typical turnaround time for a reheading project is about 2 weeks, depending on current work load.
